With a clever combination of copper inked stationery, figs and deep red maple leaves, Silvie Susadjo of Little Gem Flowers & Styling set the tone for an elegant, rich Autumn themed shoot. Featuring our gorgeous Ashton gown by UK designer Catherine Deane, this styled shoot has left us more than a little desperate to plan a wedding in this luscious season.
Comprising of the most feminine, form fitting cut, the Ashton gown features a soft illusion neckline, and stunning hand sewn, three dimensional flowers adding a delicate, fluttering element to the intricate pearl beading.
Of the shoot concept, stylist Silvie says:
“Every season has its upside, but autumn has a particular beauty to it. The rich colours, nostalgic feel and the cool breeze in particular are the things that make autumn, autumn. We all wanted to do a styled shoot that was romantic and elegant but also felt intimate.
Taking cue from the seascape venue as the starting place, I designed the rest of the elements to compliment this. I am a fan of using many different elements in my designs, like branching fruits or flower vines—typically what I can find in my garden and neighbourhood, mixed with what’s available at the flower market.
For this shoot, I chose autumn-orientated colours for the florals and combined them with green figs, fruits and changing maple leaves—it feels so romantic yet fresh and organic. For the stationery, Leah used copper-inked calligraphy coupled with blue-grey lettering for an ‘old-world romantic’ feel, and also to tie in with the ocean.”
